This 2014 'Grandfather' Pinot Noir was sourced from the 9-acre Rayhill Vineyard owned by William and Renee Rayhill. It is a site 'perched atop a 500-foot mountain in the Sebastopol Hills, just outside the town of Freestone and is farmed using organic practices'. Only 161 cases were made of this delicious Pinot which was aged for 10 months in 30% new French oak barrels. Proprietors Erin Brooks and Todd Gottula describe the wine as having, "dried cranberry, black peppercorn, river stones, dried herbs and shiitake mushroom aromas. Acidity is balanced and very well-integrated for such a young wine. The mouthfeel is silky and luscious; red fruits abound including Chinese plum and sour cranberry flavors that are perfectly married to the velvety tannins and pronounced earthy tones of the wine."
