From the impressive Brack Mountain Wine Company umbrella comes a new label called ‘Borne’ which sources fruit exclusively from vineyards in the Anderson Valley of Mendocino County. Fruit for this elegantly composed Chardonnay comes primarily from the Ferrington Vineyard as well as the Manchester Vineyard on the Mendocino Ridge. The grapes were whole-cluster pressed and fermented on indigenous yeasts followed by long, cool malolactic fermentation and 11 months of aging in 30% new French oak barrels. Extended lees stirring adds a compelling mid-palate depth yet the wine still offers vibrant acidity for excellent balance. Aromas are citrus-oriented with lemon and orange blossom while the flavors on the medium-bodied palate taste of pear and grilled pineapple. The finish is clean and honey tinged with a nutty, roasted note.
