We are very proud to announce that this 2014 Bayliss Road Pinot Noir is actually a private label made exclusively for us by the talented Eric Hamacher for Ghost Hill Cellars in Willamette Valley, Oregon. After fermenting the grapes on their native yeasts, Eric aged the wine in French oak barrels for 18 months. The nose opens broadly with aromas of ripe cherries mixed with early season strawberries as well as cedar, nutmeg and baking spices. The medium-bodied palate is lively with juicy, sweet cherry flavors to go along with notes of clove and dried herbs. It ends with a very light grip and a tinge of white pepper on the clean, fresh finish. While it is definitely elegant in style, this is not a particularly delicate Pinot Noir, and its juicy red fruit and exotic spice notes make it a perfect match for a grilled rack of lamb or roasted pork tenderloin.
