2013-C Titus Vineyards Malbec, Napa Valley, California

In order to maintain a consistently smooth style across all Titus blends, winemaker Phillip Corallo-Titus only "de-stems the grapes rather than crushing them which allows him increased control over tannin extract and prevents the seeds from breaking and releasing harshness to the wines." This 2013 Malbec, the second vintage of this limited production wine of only 594 cases, is an excellent example of Titus’ seamless style and is a blend of 85% Malbec, 7% Petit Verdot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Merlot which was aged in barrel for 21 months. The nose releases aromas of ripe plum, black cherry, cinnamon and baking spices. The full-bodied palate builds on those aromas with the addition of a semi-sweet baking note along the lines of juicy, chocolate-covered cherries. The texture is plush and round while the finish is classic Titus with softly toned tannins and great length.
